England centre Manu Tuilagi ruled out for six months by torn achilles

The England centre Manu Tuilagi has been ruled out for six months after tearing the achilles on his left leg.

Sale’s director of rugby, Steve Diamond, has revealed that Tuilagi will undergo surgery next week, saying: “Manu will be a loss to England and Sale.”

The injury means Tuilagi, who suffered the injury in Tuesday’s 34-14 win at Northampton, will miss England’s entire Autumn Nations Cup and Six Nations campaigns. The Saints’ England lock Courtney Lawes injured an ankle in the same match.
